Course Overview
This one day course is designed to teach the learner the skills needed to handle and move patients safely and securely. Patient moving and handling training is a requirement and is law for all staff members working or wishing to work in the healthcare profession, these include healthcare assistants, nurses, porters, therapists and any person with the responsibility of manually helping a persons movement. Injuries can easily happen if incorrect equipment or movement is used to aid the moving and handling of patients. This one-day course is designed to train the learner how to handle and move patients physically with the use of certain equipment. As well, the best methods and techniques for using this equipment safely for themselves and their patients.

- Muscular-skeletal system
- Bio mechanics and mechanism of injury
- Ergonomics and risk assessment
- Flexibility
- Basic principles of lifting
- Patient Moving & Handling
- Use of hoists.
