In 2022, shortly after the outbreak of the war, Robert chose to support the Ukrainian effort and served with the special forces Stugna group. Later that year he was medically evacuated to Ireland after losing an eye in a bomb attack. Despite the severity of his injuries, his resolve and sense of duty remained clear to all who knew him.
Robert Deegan, aged 29, from Newbridge in County Kildare, died on the front line in September 2024 while serving with Ukrainian special forces. His life reflected courage, loyalty, and a deep commitment to service.
We remember Robert with respect and gratitude. May he rest in peace, and may his family find strength in the honor of his legacy.
